Mr. Underwood's News Column
On Saturday this past weekend, Atticus Finch's children made a shocking discovery in their neighbourhood. Jean-Louise and Jeremy Finch said that they had gone out to explore with their new air-rifles, when they first saw the dog. Mr. Harry Johnson's dog Tim Johnson, had been seen walking, and the kids reported that he had "gone lopsided." Jean-Louise and her brother said that they had ran home to tell Calpurnia, who took the matter into her own hands. After the children told her, the Finch Family slave made sure that the neighbourhood knew that there was a mad dog on his way into their neighbourhood. When the neighbourhood was safe, Mr. Heck Tate and Mr. Finch returned to the neighbourhood to deal with the rabid dog. The group waited for Tim to make his way down the street, before they attempted to kill it. After 30 years of not shooting a rifle, Mr. Atticus Finch took Mr. Tate's rifle, and with next to no difficulty, Atticus Finch saved the day, and shot the dog. Scout and Jem are still shocked that their father can shoot a rifle, and they are proud of him for picking up the rifle, after many years of not. The neighbourhood is now safe from unwelcome dogs, and we have not seen another mad dog since that incident.
