Miss Stephanie Crawford's Gossip Column

I, Miss Stephanie Crawford, am giving insight on select people in our cozy little town. I have heard from certain sources that the Cunningham family has not repaid their debts in over thirty years! In other words, they are in huge debt! No wonder that poor little Cunningham boy has no shoes!

To continue, have y'all heard about Atticus and his maid? Nobody 'round here treats their servants like family, but it is said that Atticus treats his Calpurnia like she's a family member! Now that certainly gets you thinking don't it? The only way a man would be treating any nigger like family, is if that man was getting something out of it. D'ya catch my drift? Now that is just sad.

Now, moving on from Atticus, though not entirely, that little boy that plays with Atticus' children every summer? Dill is it? A huge question to do with that is, why does he come to Maycomb every summer? The town is nice and all, but every summer? Most folk that come down here, stay down here year 'round and don't come and go as the seasons change. I heard that that boys' parents had a ugly divorce. It is said that is why young Dill spends every summer here with his Aunt, because his Daddy don't want him for the summer and his Mother don't want him either. Well, if that is the case, then wouldn't you think that he would be in boarding school of some sort during the winter months? If his mother don't want him for the summer, why would she want him for the winter too?
